Adit Marine

Our history

Adit Marine began in 2009 as Greg Maxwell's practical answer to salt in marine cooling systems. From a Navy engineering apprenticeship in 1974 to a patented flushing invention and a serious commercial product.

Adit Marine started with one engineer, one stubborn problem and a better way to solve it. That idea belonged to Greg Maxwell.

Timeline

  1. 1974: A Navy apprenticeship

Greg began an engineering apprenticeship with the Royal Australian Navy, learning machinery the way it is learned at sea: hands-on, under pressure, and with no room for parts that fail.

  2. 2002: Keeping heavy plant running

Years in industrial maintenance planning sharpened a practical instinct. Equipment lasts when routine care is simple enough to actually get done.

  3. 2009: Adit Marine is founded

Greg founded Adit Marine and turned his own design for flushing salt water out of marine engines into a product boat owners could fit and use.

  4. 2009: The invention is patented

The original motor-flushing apparatus was patented in Australia in 2009, recorded under Greg's name as inventor.

  5. Today: The work continues

Adit Marine builds on the engineering foundations Greg established, carrying his original thinking into new products and broader marine protection.

The problem he set out to solve

Salt water is relentless inside a marine cooling system. Left behind after a day on the water, it corrodes passages, builds mineral deposits and quietly shortens the life of engines, generators and air-conditioning plant.

Greg understood that most owners know they should flush. The trouble was that flushing was awkward, so it often did not happen. His answer was engineering, not advice: make the fresh-water flush simple, repeatable and built into the boat.

From brainchild to serious product

What began as Greg's own invention became a commercial product line. Adit Marine developed flushing solutions for inboard engines, generators and marine air-conditioning systems, serving owners of recreational boats through to larger commercial vessels.

It was built the way he learned to build: from a Navy apprenticeship, a career in maintenance and mechanical systems, and a Diploma of Engineering, combined with time spent around real boats and real owners.

A legacy we intend to honour

Every Adit Marine flush system carries the same idea Greg started with in 2009: protect the engine by making the right maintenance the easy maintenance.

We are proud of where this company comes from. Our job now is to keep refining what he began, with the same practical standard he set.
