Buying a boat with Adit Marine fitted? Check these details first

An existing remote flush system is worth understanding. Identify it, inspect it and ask for the records before relying on it.

Identify what is actually fitted

A branded basin or cover is a useful clue, not a complete inventory. Ask the seller to identify the valves, inlets and any controls, and explain which circuit each serves. Photograph labels and the installation so you can ask informed questions later.

Adit Marine offers different approaches, including remote, manual and motorised equipment. Some systems have a different freshwater source or control method. Do not apply a procedure from a similar-looking boat without confirming that it is appropriate.

Include it in the survey

Ask your marine surveyor or technician to assess the visible installation and the condition of connected equipment. The flush system does not replace inspection of the raw-water cooling circuit or prove that an engine has been maintained correctly.

Look for evidence of modifications since the original fitment. Unidentified adapters, unsupported hoses, leaks, corrosion or inaccessible components should prompt questions and, where necessary, corrective work before operation.

  • Check valve and basin identification against the records.
  • Trace and label the circuits with the installer or surveyor.
  • Inspect visible hoses, clamps, supports and connections.
  • Check controls and electrical installation where applicable.
  • Ask for invoices, service history and the current operating instructions.

Ask for a safe handover

A seller's explanation is useful, but it should agree with the installed system's instructions. Ask a competent person to demonstrate the correct sequence with the boat safely secured. Learn how to stop the operation and what signs mean it should not continue.

For the applicable hose-fed engine routine, connect the hose with the engine off before starting. Do not generalise that routine to a tank-fed Bluetooth installation or chemical-treatment process; use the relevant instructions.

Set your own maintenance baseline

Once you own the boat, start a record of inspections and use. If the earlier maintenance history is uncertain, arrange an assessment rather than guessing how clean the internal passages are. Discuss whether initial CFS treatment through a CAD is appropriate for the circuit's materials and condition.

Buying a boat with Adit Marine already fitted can remove one future installation task. The real benefit comes when you understand the equipment, confirm its condition and make it part of a consistent maintenance routine.

Key takeaways

  • Identify the actual system and every connected circuit.
  • Inspect the installation, not just the branded inlet cover.
  • Get instructions and a competent demonstration before operating it yourself.
